Northern Spirit Flutes

We acknowledge that we are on Treaty 6 territory, a traditional meeting grounds, gathering place, and travelling route to the Cree, Saulteaux, Blackfoot, Métis, Dene and Nakota Sioux. We acknowledge all the many First Nations, Métis and Inuit whose footsteps have marked these lands for centuries.

I will be going on vacation to the Philipines from January 9th to February 7th 2026.

If you want to make flutes with your students kits in the New Year, I recommend making your orders now so I can ship them to you in December.

Dear U.S. customers, Finally some good news!

I am very happy to inform you that flute orders are now being successfully shipped to the U.S. using Canada Post. They are still subject to 35% tariffs as of August 29, 2025. Unfortunately, the tariffs have to be paid by all U.S. customers.

I kindly ask that you contact me prior to making a new purchase via the website, as when you make a purchase via PayPal their transaction fee of 4% is non-refundable, even if I need to give my customers a full refund.
Canada Post has partnered with Zonos, a company that streamlines the process of having tariffs calculated and paid. I have successfully used it to process shipping via Canada Post with 6 customers.

***For new customers please note*** I only sell flutes made of FDA approved ABS plastic.

This is part of a Global News Made In Saskatoon story leading up to the NBA All Star Game in Toronto in February of 2016 where Nelly Furtado was accompanied by Tony Duncan who played a custom flute I made for him specifically for this very special occasion. I feel very honored and humbled to have had the opportunity to make a flute for Tony.

This is an APTN National News story from 2016 entitled Meet the man behind Nelly Furtado's NBA All Star Game national anthem featuring Tony Duncan. I am humbled and honored to have been asked by Tony Duncan to make him a custom flute that he played to accompany Nelly Furtado as she sang O Canada at the NBA All Star Game in February of 2016.

This video features one of the performances of the Awasis Orff Ensemble from Pleasant Hill Community School in Saskatoon. The group performed at the Carl Orff Canada's national conference in Calgary in April of 2004. The students had to make the commitment to work all year long to earn the privilege of performing in Calgary. The story was written by Joseph Naytowhow, Richard Dubé and Jackie Brown. It tells the story of how children were stolen away from their families during the residential school era and how it has impacted families for generations. Miskasowin is Cree for "you are asked to know yourself".

This video features students from Pleasant Hill Community School performing for CTV's Indigenous Circle back in 2004. I wrote the song for the musical production "Miskasowin" - Search for Truth. The play was written by Joseph Naytowhow, Jackie Brown and myself. It tells the story of how children were stolen away from their families during the residential school era. Bryan Akipa premiers his latest composition the Meadowlark Song at the World Flute Society conference in July of 2024. Bryan is accompanied by flute group known as the Meadlowlarks playing Indgenous D style Northern Spirit Flutes based on Kevin Locke's Grandfather's over 120 year-old flute. Enjoy!
